Now, Imagine tree lined winter highways covered in fresh fallen snow, winding its way through the snow covered mountains and valleys. Snowmobiling is a winter activity that appeals to all members of the family. Vermont has over 5,000 miles of trails in the Vermont Association of Snow Travelers' (VAST) trail systems. The trails are well marked for fuel stops, food, and accommodations. The trails are perfect for the local riders out for an afternoon drive, or for the more serious traveler heading to an overnight destination in the State of Vermont. You'll find the best-groomed trails the snow allows. The Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (VAST), together with local clubs, maintains Vermont's trail network with over 120 groomers to assure smooth riding. Be sure to check the local clubs web pages for updated trail conditions and local trail fees. For those of you who do not own a sled, but would like to experience the unforgettable Vermont scenery, be sure to take a one hour guided tour a the Hermitage Inn.
Cross Country Skiing is offered at Timber Creek and The Hermitage Inn. For the more experienced, the Catamount Trail offers 300 Miles of Cross-Country Skiing the Length of Vermont. The winter-use trail is open to the public for skiing and snowshoeing and offers remote wilderness routes, groomed cross-country ski trails, snowmobile trails, and old logging roads. You can traverses approximately 130 miles of public land including Green Mountain National Forest, Vermont state land, and town-owned parcels.
The downhill skiers and riders can experience Mount Snow Resort four Mount Snow offers a variety of terrain including a two-mile-long novice trail from the summit, 100-yard-wide intermediate trails and the expert NorthFace that includes Ripcord, Mount Snow's steepest trail and one of the steepest in New England. 104 trails totaling 48 miles are spread out over 598.3 acres, serviced by 19 lifts. The resort also includes 5 terrain parks, a tubing park and a superpipe and offers snowmobile tours. mountain areas: Main Mountain, North Face, Carinthia and Sunbrook.
